David Michl Jr. was arrested and charged with arson for an incident occurring at the Marathon Gas Station on May 14, 2025, around 9:30 in the evening. Michl allegedly set a trash can next to one of the gas pumps on fire.
After an investigation by Newton Police Department and State’s Attorney Investigator Riley Britton, the vehicle on video was identified as belonging to David Michl Jr. After further investigation, Michl was identified as the vehicle’s driver and the person who set the can on fire.
