Lady Eagles Win Regionals

O’Dell Powers Eagles to 10-0 Win Over Lawrenceville

On Wednesday, Addyson O’Dell led the charge offensively, driving in four runs to power the Eagles to a 10-0 run-rule victory over the Lawrenceville Lady Indians. O’Dell was nearly unstoppable at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a fifth-inning triple that drove in two runs, a sacrifice fly in the second, and an RBI single in the third.

The Eagles wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. In the first inning, Avery Mulvey set the tone with a run-scoring double. The second inning saw the Eagles stretch their lead with smart situational play: O’Dell’s sac fly, a perfect bunt from Camryn Martin, and a Mulvey RBI single pushed the lead to 4-0.

Newton continued to pour it on in the third, with O’Dell and Martin each adding RBI singles, making it 6-0. They sealed the deal in the fifth with O’Dell’s triple and more aggressive base running.

In the circle, Amelia Collins was in command, tossing a complete-game shutout. The senior allowed just five hits and struck out one over five innings while issuing only one walk. Behind her, the defense was flawless, turning a double play and committing no errors, with Allie Hermann leading the way with five defensive putouts.

The Eagles collected 11 hits in the game, with multiple-hit performances from O’Dell, Mulvey, Martin, Bailee Frichtl, and Alisson Stanley.

Collins Tosses Gem, O’Dell Homers in 3-0 Win Over Flora

Two days later, Newton kept the momentum rolling with a 3-0 shutout win over the Flora Wolfgals. Both teams showcased sharp pitching, but once again it was Amelia Collins who dominated, going the distance and recording 21 outs while allowing just four hits and no walks.

The breakthrough came in the third inning. O’Dell launched a solo home run to right field, giving the Eagles a 1-0 lead. Moments later, Camryn Martin ripped a double down the right field line, driving in another run and giving Newton a cushion they wouldn’t relinquish.

O’Dell, Mulvey, Martin, Audrie Reich, and Stanley each had a hit in the game. Though the offense was more subdued than in Wednesday’s blowout, Newton showed patience and composure, with key at-bats in crucial moments.

Collins, meanwhile, was efficient and poised, striking out four and keeping Flora off balance all game. She received solid defensive support throughout the contest, helping Newton lock down their second consecutive shutout.
