Alene Bunton age 90 of Willow Hill
Alene Bunton age 90 of Willow Hill passed away Saturday, December 28, 2019 at
Wabash Christian Village, Carmi, Illinois.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 3, 2020 at the Crain
Funeral Home, Newton with Mike Knepper officiating. Visitation will be held one
hour prior to the service Friday, January 3 rd in the funeral home. Burial will be in
the Chapel Cemetery, Newton, Illinois.
Alene was born on February 23, 1929 in Greenville, Illinois the daughter of
Cleveland and Irma (Curtis) Piper. On January 30, 1948, Alene married William
Ray Bunton. He preceded her in death on April 30, 2010. Alene spent her life as a
wife, mother, and homemaker. She worked for the Ettlebrick Shoe Company.
Alene was a member of the Willow Hill United Methodist Church. In her free
time, she enjoyed sewing and gardening. Alene loved time spent with her family,
especially her grandchildren whom she adored.
Alene is survived by grandchildren Michelle (Wade) Gregory, Gabe (Stephanie)
McGaha and Nate McGaha all of Fairfield, IL, Willy (Pam) Bunton and Jeff
(Jennifer) Bunton both of Shumway, IL; sisters Helen Youngfelt of Hobart, IN,
Thyra McKown of Lubbock, TX, Dorothy Ferguson of Effingham, IL and Marie
Purcell of Robinson, IL; sister-in-law Clara (Bunton) Short of Newton, IL; 8 great
grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband Bill, son Robert Bunton, daughter Jan McGaha, sisters
Margaret Council and Marilyn Piper, brothers Bill and George Piper, grandson
Jamie Bunton and great grandson Dillon Bunton preceded her in death.
Memorial gifts in honor of Alene may be made to the Memory Care Unit of the
Wabash Christian Village, Carmi, Illinois.
