Aria Dee Grochowsky was born on May 22, 2023, in Indianapolis, Indiana at Riley’s Children’s Hospital, the daughter of Jacob Grochowsky and Ashley (Blair) Grochowsky.

Aria may have been little, but she had the biggest personality. To know her is to love her. She was enthralled with sea life, especially fish and her red octopus, loved snuggles with Mommy and Daddy, and was the most fashionable girl in the hospital.  We just could not keep socks on her though!  She loved watching the Carolina Panthers play on Sundays with Daddy, singing with Mommy, spa days with our heart family, and always being the center of attention.  Aria never said a word but with her eyes and facial expressions, she never had to.  She was quick to let you know what she was thinking with a sassy side eye or a sweet, heart melting stare into your very soul.  When she was thinking about something really hard, she would always have her toes going and her feet kicking.  Mommy referred to them as her “thinking toes”.

Aria had a Congenital Heart Defect.  Our heart family at Riley’s helped to support Aria and her family with multiple surgeries, procedures, and most of all, love. She fought hard and was brave, strong, and tough as nails through it all.  Even with her many obstacles, she was still able to smile and find joy in small things like her oral care, her aquatic mobile, and belly kisses.

Aria is survived by her parents, Jacob Grochowsky and Ashley (Blair) Grochowsky of Newton, Illinois; grandparents, Tracy Blair of Newton, Illinois; Steve and Karen Grochowsky of Springfield, Missouri; uncle Austin Blair, aunt Bridget Blair, and cousin Bennett of East Peoria, Illinois; uncle Ben Grochowsky of Burlington, Iowa; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Aria was preceded in death by her grandmother, Michelle (Woods) Blair; great-grandfather, Daniel Blair; great-grandmother, Sue Leinbacher Eyrich; and great-grandparents, Cleo, and Edith Grochowsky.
