On November 26, the Newton Rotary Club heard from Avery Hunsaker of DM Manufacturing in Ste. Marie where he has worked for about six years. His area of expertise is in cutting metal and other materials with extremely high-pressure water. Although most of their applications are for agricultural or industrial purposes, they can also make beautiful objects of art. The waterjet forces water and sometimes a fine sand through a .03″ pinpoint at 45,000 psi, and can cut through metal, ceramic, glass stone or many other materials. Because it is computer-controlled, it is incredibly accurate and can make multiple pieces exactly alike. Hunsaker is pictured here holding one of his more artistic pieces, with his cousin, Rotarian Dora Griffith, who was chairperson for the day
