Bob and Jadean Horst 50th Wedding Anniversary

Bob and Jadean Horst will be celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary on Sunday, June 27, 2021. They met as 4-H cattle showmen at the Knox County Fair. After high school, Bob attended Southern Illinois University-Carbondale on a football scholarship and Jadean attended Vincennes University both in education. They wed at the Free Methodist Church in Vincennes, IN in 1971. After they both graduated from SIU-C, they began their teaching career in Mt. Vernon, IL. Bob coached football, basketball and track while teaching P.E. and Driver’s Education and Jadean taught 2nd grade until the birth of their first son Matt. Then 23 months later Nic arrived. They moved to Flora, IL in 1981 where Bob was the head football and track coach at Flora High School. Robbie was born in Flora and then the family moved to Newton in 1984. Mrs. Horst began teaching 2nd grade again in 1990 at Hidalgo, Willow Hill and Newton Elementary until her retirement in 2012. Coach Horst retired from NCHS in 2007.

Now, you will find Bob fishing, hunting, walking, gardening and/or working around the house. Jadean can be found in her kitchen, gardening, watering flowers, walking, and trying to follow their kids and grandkids through social media. They enjoy traveling as well as spending time with friends and family. The trips to see all their kids and grandkids are always a highlight of their year. These trips are never long enough to Georgia to see Matt (fiance Carmen), Mallory, Creighton and Brant; Ohio to see Nic, Randi, Taylor, Trey, Elyse, Kade, Knox and Bette; Kentucky to see Robbie, Shayla, Cohen, Brynley, Mia and Conley.

You may help Matt, Nic, Robbie and their families celebrate this momentous occasion by sending a card to them at 308 S. Lafayette St. Newton, IL 62448.
