Carl Eugene Hannaman, age 76, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 1:45 PM – Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.

Visitation for Carl will be held 4:00-6:00 PM – Friday, September 11, 2020, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Private family services will be held, with burial in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. In loving memory of Carl, memorials may be made to the Kedron United Methodist Church, c/o The Hannaman Family, 901 South Jackson Street, Newton, Illinois 62448. Carl Eugene was born on January 3, 1944, in Wheeler, Illinois, the son of Henry Edward Martin Hannaman and Bethel (Hoopengarner) Hannaman. He attended Newton Community High School, graduating with the class of 1962.

Carl married his wife, Jane Clara Krone, on July 9, 1966, and they were married for 36 years. She preceded him in death on June 26, 2002.

Carl started work at the age of 18, as a salesman at Webster Ford in Newton, Illinois. Carl’s salesmanship and ability to relate with people led him to become Vice President and co-owner of McClane Motors, and go on to be part owner of Webster Ford in Newton. He also succeeded in the oil-well business and horse ownership partnerships throughout his life. Carl knew no stranger, and his integrity and honesty were the keys to his success.

Carl served his country in the United States Army and the Army Reserves. He was a member of the Newton Masonic Lodge #216, Ainad Shrine and the Jasper County Shriner’s Club. He was an avid golfer and member of the Quail Creek Country Club in Robinson, Illinois. Carl achieved eight holes-in-one in his life, and attributed every one of them to a good shot with a lot of luck. Some of his best years later in life were spent traveling to Florida to spend his winters golfing with friends.

Carl loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and is survived by –
Daughter – Jennifer (husband Chip) Campbell of Benton, Louisiana

Grandchildren – Carman Jane Worcester of Oblong, Illinois and Lucas Garland Campbell of Benton, Louisiana

Siblings– Gary R. Hannaman, Thomas K. Hannaman and Susan Hannaman all of Newton, Illinois

Carl was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Carla Jane Worcester, and son Keith Hannaman.
