Carol J. McFarland,77, of rural Wheeler, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 12, 2024. She entered this world on June 3, 1947, in Kankakee, Illinois. One of three children born to the union of William and Dorothy (Barnhart) Currie.
On August 18, 1994, Carol met and married Ronald Lee McFarland. He preceded her in death on May 8, 2020. In early years, Carol worked at Bennet Industries in Peotone, Illinois. She later was a clerk at the Newton IGA until her retirement. Carol loved her grandchildren and tending her flower and vegetable gardens.
Survivors include daughters, Christie Anderson, husband Larry of Zephyrhills, FL and Brandie Anderson of Riverton, WY; brother, William “Bill” Currie of Ocala, FL and sister Joyce Soucie of Effingham; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, George McFarland of Wheeler and Wendell (Shirley) McFarland of Rose Hill; and several nieces and nephews.
Her father William Currie, mother and step-father Dorothy and John McGuire, sister-in-law Marietta McFarland and brother-in-law John Soucie preceded her in death.
Per Carol’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 23, 2024, in the Kibler Cemetery, with interment to follow.
