Carol Jean (Hartke) Vahling of Effingham, IL, passed away on Friday, December 1st at her son’s residence in Newton, IL.
Services will be held at on Friday, December 15th, 2023 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetary. Visitation will be held from 9:30 am to time of service at 11:00 am.
Carol was born on July 29, 1941, the daughter of Louis and Florence (Ruholl) Bushur. She married Herman Hartke on August 10, 1963, and he preceded her in death on September 18, 2001. She then married Louis Vahling on October 4, 2003 who proceeded her in death on September 5, 2014.
Carol enjoyed playing cards, watching mass online and playing bingo.
Carol is survived by her sons, David (Malinda) Hartke of Bishop and Alan (Mindy) Hartke of Newton, grandchildren Cole Hartke, Damien Hartke, Cassandra Hartke, Katherine Hartke, and Kenneth Hartke and siblings, Kenneth (Lucy) Bushur, Dennis (Kathy) Bushur, Bert (Kenny) Walls, Sharon Fulk, and Roger (Pauletta) Bushur.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, husbands Herman Hartke and Louis Vahling, and sister Marlene Greuel and brother in laws Ronnie Greuel and Donald L. Fulk.
