Charles Jerome “Chuck” Korolden, age 69, of Mattoon, Illinois, passed away at 10:34 pm on Friday, November 26, 2021, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, Illinois. His wife, Julia Roberts, was at his side.

Charles Jerome, better known as “Chuck”, was born on October 29, 1952, in Miami Beach, Florida, the son of Keith Jerome and Carol Evelyn (Peariea) Korolden. He met his life partner, Julia Roberts (originally from Greenup, Il.), in December of 1981. They married on February 10, 1998. They lived in California from 1984 until retirement in 2015, when they moved to Mattoon to be closer to family and as a convenient “jumping off place” for exploration of the eastern half of the United States.
Chuck was a professional photographer, working in commercial, medical, and fine art photography over the course of this career. He enjoyed traveling and exploring. In his 20’s, he spent over 2 years traveling across country on his motorcycle. In his 40’s, he became on instrument rated, private pilot and flew across country in a single engine plane. When living in California, Chuck and Julia would drive to the Midwest every few years to visit family, taking different routes and exploring more of the western United States each time.

His wife, Julia Roberts of Mattoon, Illinois,
His sister, Kathy Korolden of Corvallis, Oregon, and her daughter Kathyann
and son Christian Bollenbach of Florida.
His sister -in-law, Deana (Lyman) Welch of Fort Myers, Florida, and her son, Jeff (Donna) Haywood of Greenup, Illinois.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law Mac Kenneth and Sybil Edna Roberts and his sister-in-law Virginia Roberts.
