Connie Sue Tarr, age 81

Connie Sue Tarr, age 81, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 3:30 AM – Saturday, December 9, 2023, at her residence.
Funeral services celebrating Connie’s life will be held at 10:30 AM – Wednesday, December 13, 2023, at the Scott Avenue Christian Church in Newton, Illinois, with Kevin Colclasure and Gary Hall officiating. The burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 4:00 to 7:00 PM – Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at the church. In loving memory of Connie, memorials may be made to the Scott Avenue Christian Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Connie was born on September 9, 1942, in Effingham, Illinois, the daughter of Delbert Garland and Alice (McKinney) Birch. She graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1960. On April 13, 1963, she married Howard Delaine Tarr at the South Muddy Church, north of Ingraham, Illinois. He preceded her in death on May 25, 2019.
Connie had worked at the Newton telephone office and as a babysitter. In 1978, she went to work at Central Grade School as a cook and retired after several years of service.
Connie was a charter member of Scott Avenue Chrisian Church. She was always willing to lend a hand by being a volunteer at the Master’s Hand and the food pantry at church. Connie enjoyed reading, quilting, crafting, baking and decorating cakes, candle making and making costumes.
Connie is survived by:
Children – Tamara (Richard) Phillips of Newton, Illinois; Danette (Joe) Williamson of Effingham, Illinois; and Brett (Lori) Tarr of Newton, Illinois
Grandchildren – Kiley Phillips (Jason Eskridge) and McKenzie Phillips both of Nashville, Tennessee; Clark (Molly) Williamson, Courtney Williamson (fiancé Bryce Adkins) and Macey Williamson all of Effingham, Illinois; Andrew Tarr and Grant Tarr, both of Newton, Illinois.
Great Grandchildren – Lilliana Eskridge of Nashville, Tennessee; Connor Williamson and Cooper Williamson, both of Effingham, Illinois.
Siblings – Steve Birch of Mahomet, Illinois; Beverly (Jim) Brackett of Newton, Illinois; and Garry (Shirleen) Birch of Ingraham, Illinois.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a great grandson Beckett Williamson.
