COVID Update for Newton Care Center

Update as of August 3, 2022
To our family members, residents, community and employees:
We want to inform you that five more of our residents have tested positive with COVID-19. Bringing our total to 9. Also three of our employees tested positive for Covid. Bringing the total to four.
We are in close communication with local and state health officials to ensure we are taking all the appropriate steps.
Resident safety is our top priority. While we understand that no set of defenses can be perfect, we implement all the recommended directives to ensure we prevent the spread of COVID-19 within our community by, among other things, continuing to:
• Thoroughly screen all employees each time they report for work.
• Conduct intensive vital sign screening of all residents, multiple times each day.
We encourage you to call us at 618-783-2309 for updates on the status of your loved one. If your loved one is suspected or diagnosed with COVID-19, you will be contacted.
We also understand that connecting with family members is incredibly important to our residents. Family members are encouraged to connect with their loved ones through video chat, calling, texting, or other social media formats and are permitted to visit with appropriate PPE on and observing social distancing.
Please also remember that our healthcare workers – not just nurses and CNAs, but housekeeping, laundry, dietary, activities, social services, therapy, maintenance, and administrative staff – are working hard on your behalf under stressful conditions. Please take a minute to express your appreciation for their selfless service.
We need your help in battling COVID-19. Please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website to learn how you can help prevent the spread.

Sincerely,
The Staff at Newton Care Center
