Cumberland downed St Thomas 8-5 in a back and forth battle at Newton Wednesday afternoon.
Cumberland jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. St Thomas would answer with 5 runs in the second. The score was tied going into the 6th when Cumberland tacked on 3 more runs.
The Saints were led by Quincy Fulton with 2 hits and 2 RBIs. Jarrett Pitcher chipped in with an RBI.
St Thomas returns to action next week when they play at St Anthony on Thursday and square off against Altamont Lutheran at home on Friday for 8th grade night.
