Donna Marie Gorrell, age 81

Donna Marie Gorrell, age 81, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 4:10 PM – Monday,
November 4, 2019, at the Newton Care Center in Newton, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating Donna’s life will be held at 11:00 AM – Thursday,
November 7, 2019, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Brother Larry
Matson officiating. Burial will be in the Honey Cemetery in Bogota, Illinois. Visitation
will be held 1 hour before the service. In loving memory of Donna, memorials may be

Donna was born on March 23, 1938, in Jasper County, Illinois, the daughter of Roscoe
“Rocky” and Mildred (Dufrain) Hooker. She married Dean Gorrell on May 19, 1956, at
Central Christian Church in Newton, Illinois.
Donna graduated in 1955, from Newton Community High School. She had been a cook
at Newton Community High School and retired from Illinois Department of
Transportation after 17 years of service.
Donna was a member of the Bogota Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, needle point
and making ceramics.
Donna is survived by:
Husband of 63 years – Dean Gorrell of Newton, Illinois
Sons – Randy (Cindy) Gorrell of Newton, Illinois; Rick (Bev) Gorrell of Newton, Illinois
and Gary (Kelly) Gorrell of Olney, Illinois
Grandchildren – Lyle Howard, Stephanie (Brent) Roberts, Jody Howard, Elaine (Glenn)
Braun, Derek (Jessie) Gorrell, Jennifer Gorrell, Jenna Gorrell (fiancé Lucas Pitcher),
Heather (Josh) Schulze and Logan (Miranda) Fleeharty
Several Great Grandchildren also survive
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sherry Howard, grandson
Benjamin Fleeharty, sister Vera Warfel and brothers Gene and Harold Hooker.
