Dorothy Louise Robards, age 101, of Newton passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021 at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.
Funeral services celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton with Mike Knepper and Dale Hood officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service in the funeral home. Burial will be in the West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Newton, Illinois
Dorothy was born on September 24, 1920 in Latona, Illinois the daughter of William and Nell (Tarr) Bryan. On December 26, 1941, Dorothy married Paul Gordon Robards. They shared sixty-two years of marriage before his death on December 22, 2003. In addition to being a wife and mother, Dorothy worked as a cashier for Robards Red and White in Newton. She was a faithful member of the Central Christian Church in Newton. She loved to cook, bake pies and yeast rolls. She enjoyed making fudge and candies, deciding the flavors based on her visitors.
Dorothy will be loved and remembered by her children, Paula (Robert) Becker of Winchester, VA, Gordon (Gail) Robards of Omaha, NE, Jim (Jacque) Robards of Newton and Jane (Tony) Frichtl of Greenville, SC; eleven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Her parents, husband Paul, sons Max B. Robards and David Robards, great-grandson Colby Robards, brother Dale Bryan and sister Wilma Pickens preceded her in death.
Memorial gifts in honor of Dorothy may be made to the Central Christian Church.
