The Newton Eagles defeated Neoga with a final score of 9-1. The Eagles scored five runs in the bottom of the first, one in the third, and three in the sixth inning. Neoga scored their only run in the fifth inning.
In the bottom of the first inning Will Geier doubled on a fly ball to left field allowing Ben Meinhart and Aaron Einhorn to score. Ben singled on a grounder to short, advanced to second on Einhorn’s walk, and then Ben and Einhorn both advanced a base on a passed ball. Jake Rice scores when Mason Mulvey doubles on a grounder to left field. Jake walked and advanced to third on Geier’s double bringing the score to 4-0 Eagles. Mulvey scores on a passed ball while Gage Reynolds is at bat.
The Eagles scored again in the bottom of the third when Ross Farley scores after singling on a ground ball and then advancing to third on a double grounded to left by Kaleb Probst.
Neoga’s only run occurred when Walk singles on a grounder to left allowing Young to score after singling on a line drive to right then advancing to second on Lacy’s at bat.
The bottom of the sixth inning, the scoring for the Eagles began with Reynolds scoring after singling on a line drive then advancing to third on a single line drive to center. Meinhart then scores after advancing to second on a double fly ball by Rice which also advanced Einhorn to third after a grounder and error by the third baseman. Einhorn scores as Geier grounds out to second.
