During halftime of the first home game of the season, the following alumni were recognized for being inducted into the NCHS Hall of Fame. Riley Borgic, Ben Meinhart, Amber Russell, Evan Schafer, Nick Zwilling.
The Newton Eagles defeated the Casey-Westfield Warriors with a final score of 11-8 in their home opener, bringing their season record to 1-1.
The firs touchdown came in the first quarter when Casey’s Cole Gilbert hands off ball at to Ryan Richards who runs the ball from the 29 and carries it into the end zone. The two point conversion was good.
The Eagles scored when Gage Reynolds successfully kicked a 30 yard field goal from the 20 bringing the halftime score to 8-3 Casey.
The Eagles took over the lead with the final touchdown in the fourth quarter when Max Meinhart drops back to the 11 and throws a pass to Parker Wolf who ran the ball from the 19. Meinhart then drops back to the 6 to throw a pass to Parker Wolf who caught it for the two point conversion.
