Homecoming 2021 Coronation King Aaron Einhorn and Queen Whitney Zumbahlen
The Marshall win makes for the 75th career win at Newton for Coach Jason Fulton.
The homecoming game began with coronation in which Whitney Zumbahlen and Aaron Einhorn were crowned King and Queen. Jacelyn Street was in attendance to crown Whitney. Unfortunately, Jarrett Tharp was unable to attend so she was escorted by her brother Ben Street.
The Lions kicked off to the Eagles to begin the game, and the Eagles traveled down the field until they turned over the ball on downs. The Lions then travel 70 yards to score a touchdown when Luke Cook hands off ball to Nathan Swan who runs the ball to the endzone. Luke Cook attempts the point after touchdown. He drops back and throws a pass
completion. Jacob Mitchell carries the ball to the end zone for the two point conversion. The Eagles then travel 62 yards to score when Aaron Einhorn hands off ball at the 13 to Marshall Tarr who carries the ball to the end zone. Kaleb Probst successfully attempts the point after touchdown.
The Eagles then intercept the ball from the Lions after three plays in the series and regain control. After five plays, the Eagles score the final touchdown the first quarter when Einhorn hands off ball at the 7 to Tarr who runs the ball from the 7 and carries the ball to the end zone. Kaleb Probst successfully attempts the point after touchdown bringing the first quarter score to 14-8 with the Eagles in the lead.
In the first part of the second quarter, the Lions and Eagles each have issues keeping hold of the ball as the Lions fumble twice and the Eagles once. The Eagles are able to score with one play after the final Lions fumble when Aaron Einhorn hands off ball at the 24 to Jake Rice who runs the ball from the 24 and carries the ball to the end zone. Kaleb Probst successfully attempts the point after touchdown. After the Lions end a series with a punt and the Eagles fumble, the Lions are able to score another touchdown as Luke Cook runs the ball from the 4 and carries the ball to the end zone. The Lions attempt the two point conversion, but Eagles player RJ Lindemann sacks the Cook! The Eagles then fumble the ball and the Lions have another opportunity to score when Luke Cook drops back to the 19 and throws a pass completion. Ethan Hendrix runs the ball from the 11 and carries the ball to the end zone. Luke Cook attempts the point after touchdown by handing the ball to Nathan Swan who carries the ball to the end zone. The Eagles remain in control of the ball until the end of the quarter where the score is 21-22 Marshall.
The Eagles come back to the field full force after the halftime show of the Newton Marching Eagles Drumline! The defense is able to cause a turnover on downs and proceed to score a touchdown at the end of their series when Einhorn hands off ball to Tarr who runs the ball and carries it to the endzone. Einhorn attempts the point after touchdown when he drops back to the 6 and throws a pass completion to Mason Mulvey who carries the ball to the end zone. The Eagles end the next Lions series by blocking a punt. The Eagles then score another touchdown as Einhorn hands off ball at the 4 to Jake Rice who runs the ball from the 4 and carries it to the end zone. Kaleb Probst successfully attempts the point after touchdown. The Eagle defense once again stops the Lions forcing the punt and returning control to the Eagle offense. The Eagles once again score when Einhorn hands off ball at the 4 and Jake Rice runs the ball carrying it to the end zone. Kaleb Probst successfully attempts the point after touchdown. Bringing the third quarter score to 43-22 Eagles. After the Lions turn the ball over on downs, the Eagles score the final touchdown of the game when Einhorn hands off ball at the 18 and Rice runs the ball from the 18 and carries the ball to the end zone.
