The Newton Eagles soccer team defeated both Teutopolis and Mattoon in the Red and Gold Tournament on Saturday in Charleston.
The game versus T-town was first in which the Eagles and Shoes tied in regulation play 1-1. The Eagles converted four PK’s during shootout while the Shoes converted 2. The sole goal for the Eagles during the regular play was from Greyson Dow. Penalty kicks were made by Luke Weber, Michael Neal, Nick Brody, and Lance Volk.
During the second match the Eagles defeated the Green Wave with a final score in regulation of 3-3. Goals were made by Luke Weber, Lance Volk, and Greyson Dow with one assist by Lance Volk. During the shootout, PK’s were made by Luke Weber, Michael Neal, Lance Volk, and Wade Ochs. Mattoon only converted one PK.
