Eagles Face Maroons in Homecoming Game

The Newton Eagles faced the Robinson Maroons in their 2023 homecoming game. The Eagles fell with a final score of 28-36. The first touchdown of the game came for the Maroons when Johnson dropped back to the 50 and threw a pass to Knoblett who ran the ball from the 25 into the end zone for a 47 yard gain. Pinkston threw a pass to Knoblett at the 2 who carried the ball into the endzone for the two point conversion.

The Eagles scored the next two touchdowns. The first when Meyer Tarr runs the ball into the endzone for an eight yard gain with the PAT being intercepted. The second when Max Meinhart drops back the 12 to throw a pass completion to Tarr who ran the ball from the 20 carrying it into the end zone for an 85 yard gain. Meinhart hands the ball to Drake Wolf who runs the ball in for the two point conversion. Robinson then scores the next three touchdowns to round out the first half bringing the score to 29-14 Maroons.

The Eagles score a touchdown in each the third and fourth quarters when Meinhart hands the ball to Cole Phillips who runs the ball for a 30 yard gain and a touchdown. The two point conversion is no good. In the fourth quarter, Meinhart throws a pass to Gus Bierman who carries the ball into the endzone for a 46 yard gain. Evan Zumbahlen catches Meinhart’s pass and carries the ball into the endzone for the two point conversion.
