The Newton Eagles opened their season at Paris where they faced the Tigers (who were the 2018 LIC Champions). After a fierce battle, the Eagles fell with a final score of 13-12.
The first quarter of the game remained scoreless at the Eagles and the Tigers battled up and down the field. During the second quarter, the Paris team scored when #2 Hunter Newlin runs the ball from the 11 yard line and carries the ball to the end zone. #18 Garrett King attempts the point after touchdown and it is successful.
Paris scored again when #2 Hunter Newlin hands off ball at the 8 where #7 Coy Landrum runs the ball from the 7 and carries the ball to the end zone. #18 Garrett King attempts the point after touchdown from the < 3. #18 Garrett King is blocked. The ball is declared dead at the 6.
The Eagles score once in the third when #9 Payton Birch runs the ball from the 4 and carries the ball to the end zone. #82 attempts the point after touchdown from the > 3. #82 is blocked. The ball is declared dead at the 6.
In the fourth quarter, the Eagles score once again when #9 Payton Birch hands off ball at the < 15 #45 Adam Bridges runs the ball from the < 15 and carries the ball to the endzone. (12 yard gain)

Coach Fulton discussed the game stating," The coaching staff is very proud of how hard the boys played and fought back to almost win. This team has a lot of potential and we are excited about what the next few weeks might bring."
