The Newton Eagles fell to Paxton Buckley Loda in a non-conference away game. The Eagles fell with a final score of 55-8.
PBL scored three touchdowns in the first quarter. The first was a hand off from Vaughn to Boyd Meents who carried the ball to the end zone for a 62 yard gain. The two point conversion was good. The second was when Vaughn dropped back to the 37 and threw a complete pass to Meents who ran the ball into the end zone. Two point conversion was not good. The third was when Vaughn drops back and again throws to Meents who scores with an 11 yard gain. The Eagles scored their lone touchdown in the first quarter as well when Max Meinhart hands the ball to Wade Wickham who carries it into the end zone. The two point conversion is good when Meinhart throws a pass to Brayden Bergbower who then runs the ball into the end zone.
PBL scored additional touchdowns when Vaughn hands off the ball to Meents who runs it into the end zone for a 13 yard gain, Vaughn also hands off to Meents for a 1 yard gain. For the first extra point the pass is incomplete the second Riley Darkow and Drake Wolf tackle Bruns. Additionally, PBL scores when Vaughn drops back to the 48 and throws a pass to Steiner for a 49 yard gain. Vaughn then hands off the ball to Steiner who carries the ball into the end zone. Vaughn later drops back to the 27 to throw a pass completion to Vance who who carries the ball into the end zone for a 24 yard gain. Meents carries the ball in for the extra point after the handoff.
The final touchdown of the game occurs when a pass by Max Meinhart is intercepted by Cosgrove who runs the ball into the end zone for a pick6. The extra point kicked by Wiegel is good.
Max Meinhart had 14 completed passes with 104 total yards. Evan Zumbahlen had one completed pass for 8 total yards.
