Eagles Play At Lawrenceville

The Newton Eagles traveled to Lawrenceville on Saturday. Despite a strong start, the Eagles fell with a final score of 21-40.

The Eagles start the game with an onside kick by Hayden Mulvey which Kohlten Barthelme recovers. The first touchdown occurs when Max Meinhart drops back to the 27 and throws a pass to Evan Zumbahlen who runs the ball for a 24 yard gain into the end zone. Hayden Mulvey’s kick is good. After the Indians score two touchdowns, the Eagles score again in the first quarter when Meyer Tarr runs the ball into the endzone from the 6 for a three yard gain. Payton Harris threw an incomplete pass during the attempt at a two point conversion.

During the second quarter, Lawrenceville scores one time bringing the score at the half to 18-13 Indians. In the third quarter, the Eagles score their final touchdown of the game when Meinhart hands the ball to Tarr who, with a six-yard gain, crosses into the endzone. Meinhart attempts the PAT by throwing a pass to Gus Bierman who runs the ball in.

The Eagles will play their final game of the season on Friday against Marshall at home. This will be senior night for cheerleaders, football players, and band members.
