Early on, the Warriors leaned on quarterback Cael Madden, who powered in for two rushing touchdowns and connected on a pair of long scoring passes. His 60-yard burst in the second quarter helped Wesclin build a 28-14 halftime lead.
Newton refused to go away. Quarterback Hayden Mulvey led the offense with 202 passing yards, spreading the ball to several targets. Dexter Fulton caught a four-yard touchdown before the break, while Quincy Fulton sparked the second-half rally with a 22-yard touchdown run in the third quarter and a one-yard plunge in the fourth. Drake Wolf added a first-quarter score.
Defensively, Maddox Horner grabbed an interception and Caleb Flasch recovered a key fumble, while Parker Shaffer and Dominic Baltzell anchored the middle with timely stops. In total, Newton tallied 50 tackles on the night.
The Eagles closed the gap to seven points with just over two minutes left, but Wesclin managed to run out the clock. Even in defeat, Newton displayed balance and heart, with four different players reaching the end zone.
Newton (1-1) returns home next week, looking to build on a strong offensive showing and the lessons from a hard-fought road battle.
