Eagles Soar to Victory with Back-to-Back Blowouts

The Lady Eagles took flight this week, dominating the diamond with two commanding victories over Vandalia and Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City. With relentless offense, aggressive base running, and dominant pitching performances, the Eagles proved they are a force to be reckoned with this season.

Eagles Shut Out Vandalia in Commanding 10-0 Win

On Thursday, the Eagles made quick work of the Vandalia Varsity Lady Vandals, securing a decisive 10-0 victory. The scoring began in the second inning when Allie Hermann delivered a crucial RBI single, opening the floodgates for an offensive onslaught.

Pitcher Karly Deckard was untouchable on the mound, allowing just one hit over five innings while striking out eight batters. The Eagles’ defense backed her up with sharp plays, ensuring Vandalia never gained momentum.

Offensively, the Eagles were unstoppable. Camryn Martin led the charge from the lead-off spot with two hits in four at-bats, while Sally Mahaffey set the base paths on fire with two stolen bases. The team swiped eight bases, turning every opportunity into an advantage.

Vandalia struggled to find footing against the Eagles’ aggressive. Mady McCall managed a single hit for the Lady Vandals, but that was all they could muster against Deckard’s dominance.

NCHS Dismantles Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, 18-1

Fresh off their shutout win, the Eagles carried their momentum into Friday’s matchup against Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City, delivering an even more lopsided 18-1 triumph.

Allie Hermann once again led the offensive charge, going 3-for-4 with a double and two singles. She wasted no time getting the Eagles on the board, contributing to a massive first inning where NCHS plated seven runs. Key hits from Camryn Martin, Bailee Frichtl, and Amelia Collins ensured the Eagles never looked back.

The scoring continued in the second inning as the Eagles racked up another five runs, capitalizing on disciplined at-bats and sharp hitting. O’Dell, Collins, and Hydi Bierman all delivered clutch RBIs to extend the lead. By the third inning, a triple from Lexie Ghast and another single from Hermann sealed the deal, putting the game far out of reach.

Pitcher Amelia Collins earned the win, throwing two scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out four. The Eagles’ defense remained rock-solid, preventing any real threat from the Bobcats.

On the base paths, the Eagles were electrifying. The team combined for an astounding 17 stolen bases, with nearly every player contributing to the relentless pressure on the opposing defense. O’Dell, Mahaffey, and multiple others swiped multiple bases, showcasing the team’s aggressive strategy.

Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City managed a lone run in the game, driven in by Allison Shields, but it was far too little against the offensive storm the Eagles had unleashed.

Eagles Continue to Dominate

With two dominant victories in as many days, the Eagles have sent a clear message to their competition—they are a team built for success. With lights-out pitching, explosive offense, and daring base running, the Eagles have proven they can strike from all angles.

As the season unfolds, all eyes will be on the Eagles to see just how high they can soar.
