The Newton Eagles traveled to Vincennes to face Vincennes Rivet as their season opener where they defeated the home team with a final score of 21-0. Mason Schafer allowed zero runs for Rivet pitching all five innings.

The game began with Ben Meinhart tripling with a fly ball to left field. Meinhart would then score as Aaron Einhorn grounds out. The next two runs came when Jake Rice and Kaleb Probst score on a fly ball to center field hit by William Geier, bringing the score to 3-0. Still in the first inning, Mason Schafer doubles on a grounder to center as William Geier and Carder Reich score and Mason Mulvey advances to third. Mulvey and Schafer score when Meinhart doubles on a fly ball to right field, bringing the score to 7-0. Meinhart scores as Einhorn doubles on a line drive to left field. Einhorn then scores on the throw after Rice singles on a line drive to center. This rounds out the scoring for the first inning with a score of 9-0.

In the second inning, the Eagles score again as Mason Mulvey hits a double fly to center allowing William Geier to score. Carder Reich then scores as Schafer is out on a sacrifice fly to first base. Mulvey scores when Rice is struck by a pitch. As Ross Farley grounds into a double play Meinhart scores bringing the score to 13-0 and ends the inning.

In the fourth inning, Rice and Geier both double in a fly ball to center allowing Einhorn and Rice the opportunity to score as the bottom of the 4th starts, the score is now 15-0.

The top of the fifth brings Mulvey back up to bat and he subsequently scores when Schafer triples on a fly to right. Meinhart follows singling on a hard ground to third allowing Schafer to score. Rice then doubles on a fly to left as Meinhart and Einhorn scores. The final two scores came when Jansen singled on a grounder to short allowing Rice to score and Mulvey singles on a grounder to left allowing Owen Mahaffey to score.
