The Newton High School Varsity Golf Team took first place at their opening season golf match at Casey Country Club on Tuesday, August 15.
Leading the Eagles was sophomore Michael Kennedy with a score of 39. He tied for first in the individual scores with Drake Bartos from Paris High School.
Junior Gunner James came in 3rd as an individual with a score of 40.
Junior Grant Fulton and junior Evan Johnson also contributed to our overall team score with a 44 and 48, respectively.
Second place team for the match was Paris High School.
Casey High School took third place.
Olney High School came in fourth.
Another win for the Eagles Wednesday at Oak Glen Golf Course
The Eagles won the match against Oblong, Marshall, and North Clay high schools coming out with the top 3 scores of the night.
Grant Fulton led the Eagles with a 41 followed by Michael Kennedy shooting a 42 and Gunner James coming in 3rd with a 43.
