Fonda Kay Fear, age 77, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 4:30 PM – Monday, June 1, 2026, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Services celebrating Fonda’s life will be held at 4:00 PM with her nephew Rick Britton officiating. Fonda was born on January 2, 1949, in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of Loren Ray and Clara Ellen (Rentz) Fear. She married Raymond Edward Fear on June 24, 1967, at Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois. He preceded her in death on November 18, 2022.
Fonda was a cook at Saint Thomas School in Newton for over 25 years. She was a member of Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois.
Fonda was known for being an excellent cook. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Children – John Fear (Megan Ames) of Effingham, Illinois; Cameron (Senna Adjabeng) Fear of Urbana, Illinois; Justin Fear of Oblong, Illinois; Andy Fear of Newton, Illinois; Corey Fear (Heather Demma) of Pine Haven, Wyoming and Amy Fear of Newton, Illinois
Grandchildren – Madison Fear, Savannah Fear, Logan Fear, Traeh Badger, Aaliyah Fear, Waylon Fear and Claire Fear
Brother – Thomas (Brenda) Fear of Newton, Illinois
In-laws – Richard “Dick” (Thelma) Fear of Robinson, Illinois; Connie (Robert) Keller of Newton, Illinois and Elmer Harness of Robinson, Illinois
Fonda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Loren Fear, Jr and Phillip Fear, sister Carolyn Bachelor, in-laws Florence (Richard) Britton, Beverly Harness, Marcella (Herman) Whalen and Boneva “Bonnie” Fear.
