Fundraising Painting Party at Oblong Children’s Christian Home

Planned for July 2
OBLONG, IL—A painting party fundraiser, planned for July 2, is sure to attract many fun-loving participants who will take home with them a cute patriotic piece and simultaneously help with expenses related to the interest group programming at the Oblong Children’s Christian Home. Karla Ries of Art Is Relative will lead the activity and will make the evening an enjoyable one.
Amy Kemp, Executive Director for Operations at the Home, shared, “Karla Ries has befriended the Children’s Home in a perfect way. We were in need of opportunities to bring folks on to our campus for greater exposure, and Karla enjoyed the opportunity to share her passion for art; our Home was a good venue. What has transpired is the creation of a series of events hosted year to year. In fact, we have quite a following of folks who enjoy the time with Karla. The Art is Relative painting parties help the Home to raise funds for interest group programming, and during each event, those gathered learn a little about the ministry and the use of those
funds. We could not be happier with the partnership.”
The next painting event will take place in the campus school building (New Life Academy) beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2. Advanced registration is requested. The cost to participate is $30, and interested folks should visit the Children’s Home website at www.oblongchristianhome.org and click on Events to learn more and to register online. Otherwise, call the Home at 618-592-3633 for more information.
As an added treat to the evening, refreshments will be served by one of our housemoms, and some of the young people from the campus will attend the night’s activity for a short presentation about the Home, interest group programming, and life at Oblong Children’s Christian Home.
Interest group programs are events and outings that are above and beyond the operational budget. Some interest groups enjoy overnight fishing trips or survival trips. Other groups have used funds to attend a theater performance and a nice dinner out. Other interest group funding has helped to underwrite the costs of a trip to a nearby zoo or amusement facility.
The goal of the interest groups is to use travel and different experiences to develop stronger relationships between children and houseparents.
The Oblong Children’s Christian Home is a non-profit home that houses at-risk, troubled, and neglected children. The Oblong Children’s Christian Home, with facilities in Oblong and Fairfield, IL, provides homes with unconditional love, builds healthy relationships, teaches God’s truth to the residents, and develops each child’s strengths and abilities.
