Glenn Edward Frichtl, age 87, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 7:30 PM – Saturday, April 27, 2024, at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM – Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois. The burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park in Newton, Illinois, with military rites. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM – Monday, May 6, 2024, at the church. There will also be visitation from 10:00 to 10:30 AM – Tuesday, in the church before the mass. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Glenn was born on June 13, 1936, on the family farm, north of Newton, Illinois, the son of Leonard and Helen (Kocher) Frichtl. He graduated from Newton Community High School, with the Class of 1954.

Glenn served in the United States Army from 1958 until 1963.

Glenn married Monica L. Keller, on April 29, 1960, and she preceded him in death on October 17, 1977. Later he married Judith (Hadra) Hanratty on March 15, 1997, and she survives.

Glenn was a lifelong grain and livestock farmer. He was a member of Saint Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the Jasper County Farm Bureau.

Glenn enjoyed gardening and grain marketing.

Son – Daniel Frichtl of Newton, Illinois

Stepchildren – Terry (Gina) Hanratty of Wheeler, Illinois; Doug (Becky) Hanratty of Groves, Texas; and Noel (Scott) Block of Paris, Illinois

Son-in-law – Randy Shryock of Newton, Illinois

Grandchildren – Leah (Donovan) Stopher, Matthew Shryock, Zachary (Rachel) Frichtl, Lauryn Frichtl, Tiffany (Jared) Runde, Zack (Maria) Hanratty, Lauren Hanratty, Hunter (Brianna) Hanratty, and Kiley Will

Great Grandchildren – Mara Stopher, Sophia Stopher, Morgan Frichtl, Liam Hanratty, Bailey Hanratty, Dawson Runde, Brinley Runde, Kayden Runde, and Conner Runde

Sister – Dianne (Ray) Burton of Newton, Illinois

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Glenna Joann Shryock, brother Donald Frichtl, and sister Mary Cunefare.
