Full Job Description
Organizational planning, direction and coordination of a public/private economic development corporation.
Creative approach in promoting and developing community and economic programs for Jasper County to enhance business retention, expansion and attraction in both commercial and industrial development.
Work closely with the County of Jasper, City of Newton, Jasper County Community Unit 1 and other groups. Regularly attend meetings of the Board of Directors and committees.
Supervision of business affairs to ensure that funds are collected and expended to the best possible advantage.
Build and foster relationships with community entities and businesses through visits, outreach and communication;
Act as the liaison and primary contact for business inquiries and assist businesses;
Develop and implement strategies for businesses to successfully locate or expand in Jasper County by providing access to the necessary guidance, demographics, sites, incentive programs, and financing options;
Develop and implement strategies to successfully market Jasper County to perspective businesses, visitors and residents;
Preferred Characteristics:
Interpersonal skills, leadership credentials, self motivated, proven track record of excellent communication skills and financial management. Additionally, this office supports strong relations with federal, state and regional planning offices of economic development. Most importantly, this position requires the ability to expound on the benefits of these organizations in an ongoing effort to improve the overall economic standing for all who reside in the region.
Preferred Experience:
The successful candidate will possess strong networking skills — experience in leading economic development organizations and/or governmental organizations is preferred, but not required.
Salary:
The salary is commensurate with education and experience. Starting at $20,000.00 per year
