Honey Do Ministries Work Week July 8-12

With the 2024 Mission Work Week dates of July 8-12 drawing near, the organizers of the Jasper County Honey Do Ministry need volunteers to help with projects.  Forty projects have been approved for work this year. Volunteers need to come forward or some of the requests will have to be turned down.  Abilities in a variety of areas are needed.  This year’s projects require skills ranging from carpentry and yard work to painting and cleaning.  Projects require from one to several days to complete.  Individuals may volunteer to work a day or more. No one is asked to do work that they feel uncomfortable doing.

Workers report at 7:15 a.m daily to Grace United Methodist Church on the corner of Washington and Lafayette in Newton. Park in the church parking lot. Breakfast will be served and directions for the day will be given. Lunch will be served at noon in the small pavilion at Peterson Park.  The workday will end at 5:00 p.m. Daily meals for workers will be provided by several churches in the county and by the Ministry.

Individuals or groups are encouraged to “show up”  at Grace Church the day they can work; however, it would be a tremendous help to have an idea of the number of workers available each day. Call Quincy Vanderhoof (618-553-4690), Jan Vanderhoof (618-553-2268), Kristen Rake (618-553-9041, Debbie Gray (618-554-4987). If no one answers, leave a message and someone will respond.

Jasper County “Honey Do” Ministry was first organized in the summer of 1999 to assist elderly, low income, and handicapped residents of Jasper County.  Projects include home repairs and improvements.
