Hunter Michl Signs with Wabash Valley College

Hunter Michl, son of Ryan and Tami Michl, will be attending Wabash Valley College as a part of the bass fishing team.

In memory of Bass Fishing team coach, Rob Street, who passed away in September of 2019. Hunter and his family chose to honor his memory by having an empty seat at the signing.
What other sports and activities – clubs, organizations, groups (in and out of school) have you been in during your time at NCHS?

Im involved in FFA, Livestock judging, Bass team, Trap team

What made you decide this school was the best fit for you?

I wanted to further my education in the Science field, when I was offered a scholarship for bass fishing I felt it was a good fit.
The college is small and everyone made me feel welcomed right away.

How do you feel NCHS has prepared you for this next step in life? 

NCHS has given me the opportunity to enjoy outdoor sports, such as fishing which has led me to this opportunity.  I am looking forward to fishing with Dr. Todd Gill and all of the Wabash Valley Fishing Team.

What are at least two life lessons you have learned from sports?

Hard work and Dedication, both go along way.
How have your coaches (and assistant coaches) helped prepare you to play at the collegiate level?

My coaches Rob Street, Chris Bradley along with my Dad, Ryan Michl have helped me learn the proper techniques and ways of fishing to help me succeed at the collegiate level.  

What will you miss the most next year about not being a Newton Eagle?

Living in a small community and knowing everyone in school and having a good bond with teachers.
