Ivan G. Coleman age 71 of Newton
Ivan G. Coleman age 71 of Newton passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Carle Foundation Hospital from injuries sustained from a fall off his roof.
Funeral services celebrating Ivan’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 1, 2019 at the Good Shepard Lutheran Church with Pastor Earl Brown officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 31st at the Crain Funeral Home, Newton and one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will be in the Old St. Peter Cemetery, Newton, Illinois.
Ivan was born on June 10, 1948 in Glover, Missouri the son of William Leonard and Lydia Beatrice (England) Coleman. On June 2, 1967, Ivan married Penny McClain. She survives. Ivan retired from TPS where he worked for 35 years.
Following his retirement, he owned and operated The Bike Guy bicycle shop.
Ivan was a member of the Good Shepard Lutheran Church. For twenty five years, he served as a fireman and EMT for the Wade Township Fire Protection District.
In his free time, Ivan enjoyed camping, tinkering with his bikes and cars, and buying and trading cars. He loved being a Grandpa, spending time with family and spoiling his dog, Paris.
Ivan will be loved and remembered by his wife of fifty-two years Penny Coleman of Newton; children Angie (Brad) Campbell of Westfield, IL, Michael Coleman of Newton and Krista (Brian) Ochs of Newton; grandchildren Erin (Josh) Vicory, Ian (Amy) Morris, Alex Morris, Abigayle Ochs, Ethan Coleman and William Ochs; ten great grandchildren; brothers Truman Leroy Coleman of Newton and Lindell (Deana) Coleman of Watson and sister Karen Joy Coleman of Mahomet.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial gifts in honor of Ivan may be made to the Good Shepard Lutheran Church.
