Janet Kay Marshall age 82, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024, at her home in Newton, Illinois.
Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. No services are planned at this time. Crain Funeral Home, Newton is assisting the family.
Janet, better known to most as Jan, was born on September 3, 1941 in Wabash County, Illinois, the daughter of Aaron B. and Cecil E. (Litherland) Seibert. Jan married Jerry Zimmerman and to this union two daughters were born, Jennifer and Julie. She later married Gary Marshall. He preceded her in death in 2007.
For many years, Jan worked in the corporate business world. While living in Miami, she was a stocks and bonds agent. She later worked for the Home Shopping Network and Eckard Drug Company. She returned to college, obtaining her nursing degree. She worked as a nurse for the Department of Aging until her retirement.
In her free time, Jan enjoyed gardening and piecing quilts. She loved cats, dogs and people. She was a wonderful caregiver and friend. A faithful member of Grace United Methodist Church, Jan’s faith was precious to her. She loved to spend time in God’s word and loved the opportunity to read scripture at church.
Jan will be loved and remembered by her daughters Jennifer Zimmerman of Newton and Julie Zimmerman of Tasmania, Australia; sister Mary McKinney of Bunker Hill, Illinois and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband Gary, brothers Wayne Seibert and Jerry Seibert and sister Renee Grobleben preceded her in death.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to either Saved by Grace Animal Rescue or to Claws and Paws Animal Rescue.
