Janet Waggle has worked in the insurance world since 1968. She began in Charleston as an agent and then moved back to Newton. She worked for Don Ward Insurance until around 1976 when she worked at Pulliam Insurance Agency which became Jasper County Insurance and now Farley Insurance. Over the years, Janet has volunteered with many different groups including Relay for Life, she is a past member of the Embarras River Tourism Council, Masters Hands, and she hopes with her retirement she will have the ability to do so again.
She is a member of the local Red Hat Society group the Classy Lassies and they try to get together once a month, however, with COVID this has been difficult to do. Her biggest passion for hobbies is knitting.
When asked about the various changes throughout the years, Jan states” Changes: of course back in the day we did not have computers, so all the rating and applications were done by hand then sent in the mail. It was awesome when computers came out speeded up the process to rate and issue policy, claims etc.”
She also states, “I’ll really miss working with all the clients and the people I’ve known at each of the companies we represent.”
When asked what her retirement plans included she states: ” Retirement plans are to just enjoy not having to go to work everyday. Do some volunteer work and with Mindy’s help start with the Embarras River
Tourism Council with their first meeting in December. And see what happens from there.”
