On September 2, Newton High School head football coach Jason Fulton (left) spoke to the Newton Rotary Club. He opened, as usual, with an update about his busy family, then moved on to Newton Eagle Football. He said last season ended with a 6-4 record, but that Newton had a history of five straight playoff appearances, and they have their sites set on another. This year’s team consists of 51 high school players. He also talked about how it’s all about a lot more than football, handing out the player’s manual to show us some motivational strategies and discussing new ideas they got from attending a football camp at the University of Alabama, which held practices and drills, as well as speeches from experienced coaches. He expressed gratitude for the recent Queen of Hearts raffle by Newton Sports Boosters, who raised over $250,000 for Jasper County sports. Chairperson for the day was Rotarian Adam Wolf (right).
