Jasper County CUSD #1 Announces Preschool & Kindergarten Screenings

Newton, IL – Jasper County Community Unit School District #1 (JCCU #1) has announced upcoming screenings for preschool and kindergarten students for the 2025-2026 school year. These screenings are a mandatory step for children before attending preschool or kindergarten within the district.

The screenings will take place on Thursday, May 22nd, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Friday, May 23rd, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Ste Marie Elementary School, located at 311 Franklin St., Ste Marie, IL.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Preschool: Open to children aged 3-5 years old, born between September 2, 2020, and September 1, 2022.
  • Kindergarten: Open to children who will be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2025.

Since screening is required before attending a program, parents are encouraged to schedule an appointment by May 1st using the provided online link, QR code, or by calling the school.
