As the 2024 Leap Day of Kindness approaches, the excitement is building for an extra day to spread kindness! In order to commemorate the occasion, the Jasper County Chamber of Commerce have designed special shirts for both adults and kids in collaboration with Borgic Designs. Proceeds from the shirt sales will be donated to JCCU#1 schools to pay off overdue lunch accounts. Additionally, cereal box donations are still being accepted for St. Thomas’s Leap Day cereal box domino chain of kindness. On 2/29/2024, the first $29.00 worth of drinks at Flo’s Coffee Bar will be on the chamber. Simply Mary will cover the drinks for officers and staff from Newton Police Department, Newton, Illinois and Jasper County Illinois Sheriff’s Department that day. Want to join us? Just stop by Flo’s with your donation for #LeapOfKindnessDay, tell them what it’s for, and share your name (if you’d like) so the chamber can give you a shout out!
St. Thomas School is also participating in Leap of Kindness Day with a Cereal Box Challenge. Showing kindness has a domino effect, so let’s see how far we can extend it! Bring in an unopened box of cereal (or more) to help extend our chain. All cereal donations will be given to The Masters Hands in Newton. You can drop off cereal at St. Thomas between 2/19 and 2/29, or anytime at the Jasper County Chamber of Commerce office.
