Superintendent’s Report:
- Jasper County School District discussed the tentative budget for FY 24
- Overall, the district ended the fiscal year in good standing with revenues exceeding budgeted numbers and expenditures less than predicted.
- The budget for FY 24 looks to balance in the Education Fund, Operation and Maintenance Fund, and Transportation Fund.
- The District will have two major projects this year with HVAC and Roofs being completed at all schools in Newton.

- Established Budget Hearing For FY 24 Budget for September 25, 2023 at 6:20p.m.
- Approved Mandy Rieman to SESE Board for 2023-2024 School Year
- Approved Incentives for School Bus Drivers
- Guarantee all drivers and chaperones 2 hours per morning and 2 hours in the afternoon. This would be a total of 4 hours.
- Pay retired drivers that come back to sub on a regular route the rate of hourly that they left the district with.
- Bumping the sub rate to $17.25 per hour.
- Referral bonuses for employees that get people to get a school bus permit.
- Approved Agreement with Crowdstrike Cyber Protection Company.
- Approved Agreement with Jasper County Mental Health Department for Community Partnership Grant.
Resignations/Retirements
- Approve resignation of Melissa Stanley as the JCJH Cheerleading Sponsor
effective immediately.
- Approve resignation of Melissa Stanley as a Special Needs Paraprofessional
as of August 7, 2023.
- Approve resignation of Kathy Smithhenry as a bus driver as of July 18, 2023.
Hires
- Approved the hire of Jamie Newkirk as an Newton Elementary Teacher for the 2023-2024 School Year.
- Approved to hire Justin Kelsheimer as the JCJH Assistant Cross Country Coach for the 2023-2024 School Year.
- Approved to hire Alyssa Klukis as the JCJH Cheerleading Sponsor for the 2023-2024 School Year.
- Approved to hire Troy Bierman as the NCHS Freshman Class Sponsor for the 2023-2024 School Year.
- Approved to hire Cindy Frohning as the NCHS Junior Class Sponsor for the 2023-2024 School Year.
- Approved to hire Josey Hyatt for a 20 Hour per Week Contracts for Counselor-Interns
