Superintendent’s Report:

Student Resource Officer

  • The Board heard an update on the Student Resource Officer position for the Jasper County School District. 
  • Newton Police Chief Riley Britton is working to put things in place for the start of the 2024-2025 school year.

2024-2025 Handbooks

  • The District is looking at student handbooks, athletic handbooks, and the creation of an extracurricular handbook.
  • The Board expressed concerns with the use of cell phones in the classrooms.

New Business

  •  Awarded Food School Management Contract for the Jasper County School 

 District to OPAA for $433,425.27.

  • Established  Budget Hearing for FY 24 Amended Budget for June 17, 2024 at 

              6:20 P.M.

  • Approved an Intergovernmental Agreement with Clay-Jasper-Richland-North 

             Wayne Delivery System for the 2024-2025 School Year. 

  • Approved the  Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Club for NES for 6th 

            Grade Students.

  • Approved Little Illini Conference Recommendation for Officials Pay for the 2024-2025 School Year.

Action out of Executive Session

  • Approved to keep closed session minutes closed from January 1, 2022 – June 30, 2022
  • Approved a Resolution Authorizing Issuance of a Notice of Remedial Warning to Tenured Teacher Jeffery Finley.

Resignations/Retirement

  •  Approved the Resignation of Heather Kistner as a NES Full-time Substitute as of May 21, 2024.
  • Approved the Resignation of Sheryl Brummer as a NCHS Business Teacher at  the end of the 2023-2024 School Year.
  • Approved the Resignation of Weston Peno as the Dean of Students at  JCJH/NCHS at the end of the 2023-2024 School Year.
  • Approved the Resignation of Jennifer Eaton as a Speech Language Pathologist at the end of the 2023-2024 School Year.
  • Approved the Retirement of Lora Semple as a Kitchen Manager at NCHS/JCJH as of May 23, 2024.
  • Approved the Retirement of Angie Probst as a District Paraprofessional at the end of the 2023-2024 School Year
  • Approved the Resignation of Sheryl Brummer as a NCHS FBLA Sponsor at the end of the 2023-2024 School Year.
  • Approved the Resignation of a JCJH Athletic Director Weston Peno at the end of the 2023-2024 School Year.

  •   Approved to Hire Eric Qualls as a NES Special Education Teacher for the 

              2024-2025 School Year.
