Superintendent’s Report:
Building Updates:
- HVAC:
- The District has been working with Holland Construction to update the Board on where we are with the HVAC project.
- Basic materials are in high demand and at this point is causing significant delays in rooftop air conditioning units and electrical panels.
- 90% of the rooftop units are scheduled to arrive in September of 2023. The other 10% in October 2023.
- The high school electric panels are scheduled to be delivered in October of 2023.
- The electric panels for the elementary are scheduled to arrive in March of 2024.
- At this time, I believe that the HVAC project will be completed in the Summer of 2024.
- 609 Lafayette Street:
- The Old Unit Office will be on the agenda for sale in May.
- The hope is to have the old office sold by July 1, 2023.
- The Board Meetings will continue to be held at 609 Lafayette Street until the building is sold or the gymnasium at the former Sunrise building is cleaned out.
- Sunrise Building/New Unit Office
- The District Office is now running out to 1401 Clayton Avenue.
- The District is looking to use the gymnasium for events in the near future and to host Board Meetings.
New Business
- Approved Agreement with OPPA Food Service for the 2023-2024 School
Year.
- Approved Official Pay for the 2023-2024 & 2024-2025 School Years
- Approved Intergovernmental Agreement with Clay-Jasper-Richland-North Wayne Delivery System
Resignations/Retirements
- Approved the retirement of Lisa Dhom as a Bus Driver at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.
- Approved the retirement of Prudence Spencer as an Aide at NES effective April 14, 2023.
- Approved the retirement of Roxanne Pitcher as NES Secretary as of January 3, 2024.
- Approved the resignation of Gina Niemerg NES Special Education Teacher at the end of the 2022-2023 School Year.
- Approved the retirement of Laura Geier NES Teacher at the end of the 2025-2026 School Year.
Hires
- Approved the hire of Katie Beals as NCHS Spanish Teacher for the 2023-2024
school year pending background check and employment history review.
- Approved the hire of Justin Kelsheimer and Jennifer Eaton as NES Summer
School Teachers.
Approval for Leave of Absence
- Approved leave of absence for Abby Jansen and Alexandra Boggs.
Approval of Transfer
- Approved the transfer of Heather Kistner to the NES Full Time Subbing Position for the 2023-2024 School Year.
- Approved the transfer of Justin Kelsheimer to 2nd Grade NE position for the 2023-2024 School Year.
Voluntary Reduction of Hours
- Stacey Goebel from a 12 Month Contract to a 10 Month Contract.
Approve to Advertise:
- Approval to advertise for a NCHS Night Custodian for the 2023-2024 School Year.
- Approval to advertise for two Summer Help Positions in the Jasper County School District starting May 22, 2023.
- Approval to advertise for a Special Education Teacher at NES for the 2023-2024 School Year.
