JCCU1 Board Report for October

Jasper County Community Unit #1, Board of Education Meeting

Report October 17, 2022

Bond Hearing:

In June of 2022, the Jasper County Board of Education approved the 10 Year Health Life Safety Report for all buildings in the District.

The survey looks at all facets of our buildings and prioritizes needs.

Currently, the greatest needs of our buildings for Health Life Safety Purposes are the elevator and roofs.

At the September 19, 2022, Jasper County Board Meeting, the Board was presented with several options to attack building projects in the district.

At that meeting, the Board asked that we look at the option of Health Life Safety Bonds for these projects and approved to apply for a Pre-K Construction Grant through the State of Illinois to place a building addition .

Health Life Safety Projects would include:

Newton Community High School Elevator

Newton Community High School Roof Project

Newton Elementary Roof Project

Non-Health Life Safety Projects:

HVAC for Newton Community High School, Jasper County Junior High, and Newton Elementary

The HVAC Projects will be paid through ESSER Funds from the Federal Government.

The Board will continue to look into the Health Life Safety Bond options for the District.
