Jessica Lynn Spiker, age 14

May 16, 2007 – April 17, 2022

 

Jessica Lynn Spiker, age 14, of Wheeler, Illinois, passed away at 3:00 AM – Sunday, April 17, 2022, at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.  

 

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM – Friday, April 22, 2022, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois, with Fr. Dean Probst celebrating mass.  Burial will be in the Kibler Cemetery in rural Newton, Illinois.                      Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 AM – Thursday, April 21, 2022, at the church and again 9:30-10:30 AM, before the mass.  In loving memory of Jessica, memorials may be made to St. Thomas Catholic School or The Family Life Center – Newton.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois.  The obituary can be viewed and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.

 

Jessica Lynn was born on May 16, 2007, at St. John’s Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, the first child born to Scott Christopher and Amy Marie (Deters) Spiker.  In February 2020, Jessica was the recipient of a double lung and heart transplant, allowing her two more years to bless those who loved her. 

Jessica was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois.  Jessica graduated 8th grade from St. Thomas Catholic School.  She was very active, involved in Band, Track, Civics Club, Volleyball and was a Cheerleader during her time as a St.  Thomas Saint.  Entering her freshman year at Newton Community High School she was excited to join the Newton Chapter of FFA and aspired to be a counselor to children.  

Jessica enjoyed being home on the family farm, driving tractors, raising calves, helping with the farming and playing with her dog.  She found so much joy in spending time with her siblings, cousins as well as reading and painting.
