John Paul Spence, Jr. age 68 of Newton passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022 at HSHS St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Effingham, Illinois.
Cremation rites were accorded with a memorial at a later date.
John was born on August 3, 1954, in Effingham, Illinois the son of John Paul Spence, Sr. and Lois (Masters) Workman. John married Juanita Louise Williams in April of 1990. She preceded him in death on July 9, 2021.
John was a retired brick mason. He spent his working years in California. He was a member of the Brick Mason Union and the Bricklayer International Union.
John was an outdoor person. He loved to hunt, especially deer and turkeys. He also enjoyed riding motorcycles and collecting guns and knives.
John will be loved and remembered by his children Nikki Gutierrez and Josh Spence and grandchildren all of California; his mother Lois Workman of Newton and siblings Robyn, Scott and Victor all of Newton.
He was preceded in death by paternal and maternal grandparents, his father and aunts, uncles and cousins.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
