Joseph Charles Bierman, age 85

Joseph Charles Bierman, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, May 28th at home
surrounded by his family.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 am Thursday June 5,
2025, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Newton, IL. A visitation will be held from
4:00-7:00 pm Wednesday June 4, 2025, and one hour prior to funeral mass, at
St. Thomas Catholic Church, Newton. Joe requested that his body be gifted to
Washington University School of Medicine.
He was born on March 2, 1940, in Effingham, Illinois. He was the son of Clem and
Agnes (Cohorst) Bierman. He married Mary Jane Repking on April 24, 1965.
Joe attended Jasper County schools and dedicated his life to dairy farming, a
profession he carried with pride and love. A committed member of his community,
he was actively involved in various organizations, served on numerous boards,
and served in the Army Reserve with honor. He was an avid fast-pitch softball
player who stood on the mound for over 40 years. His faith was central to his life
as a devoted member of St. Thomas Catholic Church. Known for his humility and
generosity, he quietly gave back in countless ways, leaving a lasting impact on all
who knew him.
Joe is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Jane (Repking); Children: Cheryl
Mitchell, Lexington, Kentucky, Ken (Vickie) Bierman, Watson, Illinois, Matt (Stacy)
Bierman, Newton, Illinois, Diana Van Osdell (Matt), Kokomo, Indiana.
Grandchildren: Doug (Taylor) Mitchell, Benjamin (Simona) Mitchell, Allie Bierman,
Joe Bierman, Nick (Sydney) Bierman, James Bierman, John Bierman, Zach Van
Osdell, Michael Van Osdell, Maggie Van Osdell.
Siblings: Dave (Cris) Bierman (Wheeler), Patti (Mike) Wente (Colorado), Nick
(Jody) Bierman (Effingham, Illinois), Ellen (Jim) Roller, Colorado, Marge (Jerry,
deceased) Kessler (Wendelin), Phyllis (Pete) Hyland, (Colorado),
He was preceded in death by his son Doug, and parents Clem and Agnes Bierman.
