Superintendent’s Report:

  • Jasper County School District ended the fiscal year on June 30, 2023. 
  • Overall, the district ended the fiscal year in good standing with revenues exceeding budgeted numbers and expenditures less than predicted.
  • Although this is the case, the Capital Fund (1% Sales Tax) was the one that took the biggest hit. The Capital Fund money was used to pay for  the new elevator at Newton Community High School.
  • The District also will finish the year in a negative balance in the Transportation Fund. State payments for the District arrived in early July, with those revenues being counted in fiscal year 24.
  • District Transportation Director Daniel Stark discussed the needs that the school district has for bus drivers and ways to incentivize more people to drive a bus.

New Business

  • Approved Title I Schoolwide Plans for Ste. Marie, Newton Elementary, Jasper County Jr. High, & Newton High School 
  • Approved Superintendent Membership and Conferences for the 2023-2024 School Year 
  • Approved Updated Risk Management Plan
  • Approved  Jasper County District #1 Classified Handbook 2023-2024
  • Approved Soccer Complex Agreement with 4THEKIDSLLC.
  • Approved for Superintendent to Hire District Staff from July 18, 2023  to August 21, 2023
  • Approved the Purchase of (2) Two Used Activity Buses for the 2023-2024 School Year with an individual price cap of $80,000 each.

Actions From Closed Session:

  • Approved Contract Renewals for Daniel Stark, Aaron Kurtz, Misty Heath, Adrian Guzman, Luke Zuber, Nickolas Huddleston, Jenni Maxon at a 5% Increase.

Resignations/Retirements

  •  Approve the resignation of Everett Fear as NCHS/JCJH Night Custodian as of 

             July 25, 2023.  

  •  Approve the resignation of Kyle Klier as of June 30, 2023 as NES Assistant Principal.         
  •  Approve the resignation of Samantha Will as of July 30, 2023 as NES Teacher.

Hires

  • Approve Ryan Klier as the NES Assistant Principal for the 2023-2024 School Year.
  • Approve Rachel Buening as a NES Teacher for the 2023-2024 School Year.
  • Approve Julia Whittler as a NES Teacher for the 2023-2024 School Year.
  • Approval to hire Erin Harris, Ryan Cochran, and Kathleen Terry for as District  Bus Drivers for the 2023-2024 School Year.
  • Approval to hire Klayton Jones for the NCHS Night Custodial Position for

2023-2024 School Year.

  • Approval to hire Jeremy Kuhl as the NCHS Day Custodian Position for the 

2023-2024 School Year.

  • Approval to hire Amy McDonald as a Jasper County Schools Paraprofessional 

for the 2023-2024 School Year.
