Newton JV Baseball hosted Atlamont

Newton – 7
Newton took an early 1-0 lead after the 1st inning.
Newton added 2 more runs in the 3rd inning to extend the lead to 3-0.
In the sixth inning Newton broke out with 4 runs to go up 7 to 0.
Altamont got on the scoreboard with 2 runs in the sixth.
Newton closed things out in the 7th to win 7 to 2.

The game went into extra innings(9).

After the first inning, Newton was able to capitalize on some Mattoon errors to take a 4-0 lead.
Mattoon scored their first run in the top of the second.
Mattoon added another run in the 2nd inning.
Mattoon scored 2 runs in the fourth inning to tie the game at 4.
Mattoon took the lead in the 6th inning with 3 runs.
With Mattoon ahead 7 to 4, Newton rallied back in the bottom of the 7th
with 3 runs to tie the game at 7 apiece.
In the top of the 9th, Mattoon broke open the game with 5 runs.
Newton could not answer in the bottom of the 9th to drop the game 12 to 7.
