The JCJH Lady Eagles won the first game at the State Tournament on Saturday to automatically qualify them for the Final Four games on Monday. The Eagles defeated the Monticello Middle School Sages with a final score of 10-0. Paige Wagner drove in four runs on two hits to lead the Eagles. Wagner doubled in the first scoring two and hit a sacrifice fly in the second scoring one, and singled in the third scoring one. After Wagner’s double in the first inning, Lexie Ghast singled scoring one run, Jaycee Dhom grounded out, scoring one run, and Kraegan Groves singled scoring one run.
In the bottom of the third, Maleah Miller doubles, the Sages committed an error and Wagner singled each scoring one run.
Ghast was the first in the circle for the Eagles allowing zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out four and walking two. Emma Inyart pitched two innings for the Eagles in relief surrendering one hit, striking out two, and walking one.
During the second game of the day, the Lady Eagles suffered their first loss of the season. against the Beecher Junior High Bobcats with a final score of 0-6. Lexie Ghast was the starting pitcher giving up seven hits and six runs (three earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out eight and walking one. Emma Inyart Maleah Miller, Gabbie Flowers, and Paige Wagner each collected one hit for the Eagles.
The Eagles will play for third place at 4:30 pm against Beardstown MS in Normal, IL.
