Lady Eagles Autism Awareness Game

The Newton Lady Eagles faced the Richland County Tigers during their annual autism awareness game on Monday. In addition to wearing shirts promoting autism awareness, Brinlyn Beam sang the National Anthem before the game.

Avery Mulvey started the games for the Lady Eagles and recorded 21 outs. Lexie Grove collected four hits in six at bats. Grove singled in the first inning, doubled in the seventh inning, singled in the second inning and singled in the eleventh inning.

The Eagles scored in the bottom of the first inning after Grove singled and the Richland County Tigers committed an error and each play scored one run.

The Tigers tied the game in the top of the fifth thanks to a ground out by Rylee Bloomer and an error. Amelia Collins earned the win for the Eagles. She surrendered one hit and zero runs over four innings, striking out three and walking none.

Mulvey stepped in the circle first for the Eagles allowing two hits and two runs (zero earned) over seven innings, striking out six and walking one.
